Migrant Worker’s Condition of Thai- Burma Border

> 100 years ago (1890, May 1 st), since May Day had been established

Between employers and employees but in
Some cases there was in need of an organization which can represent fairness and justice to intervene those problems. Therefore, in 1919 ILO
Was established and came into being. Since then, employers, employees
And relevant Government representatives had cooperated with ILO and
have been solving the problems respectively.
There are estimated2 millions Burmese migrant working in
Thailand and they are all over 76 Thai provincial administration regions.
For those Burmese migrant workers who are in Thailand have been loosing
Their rights such as
1. Not being able to hold a real work permit.
2. Not receiving wages according to provincial. (In some working areas not receiving wages at all.)
3. Not receiving specific wages on Sunday and 13 Thai official holidays. No day off for the migrant workers particularly on those days.
4. Female workers are not getting their rights.
5. Child workers are not getting their rights.
6. Concern for daily security and safety due to arrest by immigration, police, army as an well as an attack by criminal and gang members.
7. Lack of clean water, lack of clean environment system, lack of clean accommodation and most of all lack of clean environment.
8. Poor management for safety at work area. (In some areas there are no safety plan put in place at all.)

Therefore, for the Burmese migrant workers entitlement and rights,
1. To have the right to form worker’s union freely.
2. To allow and hold a meeting between employers for once in every three months.
3. To allow holding conference on migrant working acts because migrant right is a human right.
4. To take special attention on any employer who violated the acts so the action taken will not only be on employee but will also to employer.
5. To carry out orderly be in relation to document for job transfer.
